Swallowtail - 3D

Hello Stampers!  It's time for Spring, but you would not know it today in Northern Vermont so I thought I would bring a little warmth inside.  Today I bring you the "Swallowtail" and my very first blog post!  I'm super excited to be sharing my Stampin' Up! cards and projects with you.

Here are my instructions for my version of the Swallowtail - 3D

First we use our Stampin Trimmer and cut our Cajun Craze cardstock to 5 1/2 x 11, scored in half at 4 1/4 using your Bone Folder to make a crisp score.  Next we cut our Whisper White cardstock (3 pieces) to 4 x 5 1/4.  One piece will be used for the cardfront, one for scrap, and the other for in the inside greeting area.

Next we stamp using the Gorgeous Grunge jagged lines and splatter stamps, stamping off first, then stamping on using Crumb Cake classic ink on two pieces of the Whisper White.  Add your sentiment of choice to one of the Whisper White pieces using Cajun Craze.  The remaining piece will be used for the inside of your card.  Set these aside and now let's get to the embossing!

Using your VersaMark ink, Whisper White scrap, and the Swallowtail stamp, ink up really well.  Take your Embossing Buddy and rub it across your stamped Whisper White (to the left).  Stamp your Swallowtail onto this piece, being careful not to rock your stamp.  Then we add Gold Embossing Powder and use our Heat Tool to make some magic Gold!  Let your embossed card cool.

Once cool, use your sponge daubers, work from the middle to the outside with variations of Cajun Craze and Crushed Curry.  It's okay if you go outside the lines.  Clean off sponged ink with a tissue as the ink will not adhere to the embossed image.

Next we fussy cut around your embossed image.  If you are left with a little bit of Whisper White showing, just use your Crushed Curry sponge dauber on those areas.

Now, let's put our elegant card together.

Add the Whisper white that has the sentiment stamped on it to the Cajun Craze cardbase.  Next we add Stampin Dimentionals to the backside of the embosed Swallowtail.  Add the Swallowtail to the Whisper White carefully lining up the sides so that they match.

On the inside I chose to use the Elegant Butterfly Punch to create a 3D image on the inside.  Punch out the butterfly on the left bottom side.  Use SNAIL to adhere to the cardbase.  Add 3 rhinestones to the white butterfly, then add small piece of dimensional to the backside and adhere to the cardbase overtop of the punched out butterfly.
