The masking technique is really a simple technique to master. Just add some ink to some stamp sets and let the magic happen.
To mask the area in the middle, I used the Rectangular Postage Stamp Punch and added the Happy Birthday sentiment from Peaceful Moments stamp set. Peaceful Moments is a staple in my craft room.
